Question: When I try to setup the Web Privacy Controls service, I get the following error message: “You have tried to protect information that includes unsupported characters”. What should I do?

 

Error message: "You have tried to protect information that includes unsupported characters. Please go back and try again."

 

Answer: This error message appears when you enter credentials like phone numbers, email addresses, or credit card number for protection under the Web Privacy Controls service.

 

To resolve this issue, follow the steps below:

 

  1. Click on the Windows Start button, then click on Control Panel.
  2. From the Control Panel menu, click on Regional and Languages Options.
  3. Click the Advanced tab.
  4. Under the Code page conversion tables, scroll down to 20127 (US-ASCII) and add a checkmark next to this option.
  5. Click on Apply, then click on OK.
  6. Restart your computer.
